What do you do for two hours every day?
What do you do for two hours every day? Commute? Read? Sing? Daydream?
According to our
latest survey, IT professionals spend at least a quarter of their time on compliance activities. That is two hours assuming an 8-hour working day.
I can't think of something that I do for at least two hours a day! In the age of advanced technology, automation, analytics and AIs, I find it painful to think that IT professionals are still spending so much time on compliance-related activities: whether it is the definition of policies, or the endless investigations to ensure that the system does not host violations, or making sure that there are no security breach, and more….
More stringent compliance is needed
The survey commissioned by NICE shows that a vast majority of organizations think they should be more stringent when it comes to assuring the compliance of their systems, especially in light of new regulations like GDPR and the likes which push for more privacy and impose larger fines for misconducts.
In fact, 83% of respondents think they should invest more in privacy!Compliance is not a new challenge. What has changed in recent years though is the volume and velocity of the activities related to compliance that need to be carried out in the systems. Because of the rapid digitalization of interactions, IT managers who are the closest to the raw data and who ensure its manipulation, have also become heavily involved in compliance. They are in fact, almost as much concerned as the compliance teams and
the survey shows how both teams think of their role: they both see one another as sharing an equal part of the burden.
What needs to be improved?
At least 98% of the
survey respondents say that compliance is a resource draining activities. These numbers, combined with the new challenges pose the question: what needs to be improved? Here again, the
survey respondents are pretty unanimous in pointing us towards what they need: to simplify and shorten processes! To navigate the maze of regulations or to detect errors, IT managers and compliance teams need to be empowered with dedicated solutions.
At NICE, we have put together a mission-critical offering in order to boost the efficiency of IT teams whose resources are drained by compliance, while delivering benefits for all stakeholders: from the business team to the compliance one and all the way to the agents. Our
Compliance Center, brings together automation and analytics in order to dramatically streamline the time spent on compliance and the potential risks with mechanisms for policy management and violations identification.
