Change. Adapt. Overcome.

One of the hardest things I’ve ever done is to change jobs. My old job was great, the company was successful, the people were fantastic – but sometimes you need to make a change to challenge yourself. When I sat with my now boss and talked about my future, it was really clear that NICE had a lot to offer. I talked it through with my wife over a glass (bottle) of wine, and after tucking my baby girl into bed I decided to make the change. All went well for the first couple of months, then COVID hit. Like many I found myself in uncharted territory, trying to make a good impression at work whilst an adorable toddler by day and (demon by night) ruled the household – not knowing it would take another 7 months until our full-time childcare would come back. During this time, NICE really helped keep my sanity. Twice a day ‘coffee catch-up’s’ with the team to talk things through, big customer RFPs, lots of MS Teams compliance recording presentations all kept me occupied.During this challenging time, I’ve seen lots of people take up new technology, myself included. Being able to do video calls with friends and family so they could see my daughter continue to grow up has become vitally important! In the time of social distancing, technology has been a great connection-enabler for businesses too. Here at NICE, this year, we decided that our biggest customer event, Interactions Live, would be virtual. It was amazing to see a well-rehearsed marketing team kick into action and bring the show together. Taking part in it really helped both my confidence in being a member of the NICE team, but also gave me back a little of the normal experience, that sense of being connected, that I was used to before COVID hit.During the virtual conference, I was happy to lend my experience to speak on two topics that are especially relevant in these times: MS Teams and Mobility. As the pandemic still keeps many of us working from home, and many our regulated financial services customers as well, unified communications and mobile phones are becoming the prevalent way to communicate. Our lives have changed in a way we couldn’t have predicted when 2020 started. And who knows how 2020 will end, or what 2021 will bring – but it’s at least a small comfort to know that technology can help us readily change, adapt and overcome.I’m really proud of the educational content we delivered through our virtual conference this year. If you didn’t have a chance to join us live, you can view it on demand here.Stay safe. And stay connected!
