The Methodology
Newsweek's “World's Greenest Companies” participants are determined by assessments conducted by sustainability experts Plant-A Insights Group and GIST Impact. Their evaluations use a comprehensive methodology to identify true sustainability leaders by reviewing publicly available environmental data.
The experts' methodology recognizes organizations that provide detailed public disclosures aligned to both stated environmental commitments and long-term corporate goals.
Their evaluation examines over 25 environmental indicators across four primary areas. These indicators include such benchmarks as how companies measure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve water stewardship, and implement waste-reduction initiatives. Each area is scored through specific, publicly verified data points designed to ensure an objective measure of progress in environmental performance.
