Billed as “public safety communications biggest event of the year,” the APCO conference is always exciting and I’m especially looking forward to attending this year.
Next Generation 9-1-1 is now starting to move from the drawing board to reality, and as it does, PSAPs will have access to many new information sources through shared IP networks. As they do, they will be looking for solutions to transform this data into insight for decisive action.
One solution that enables them to do this is the NICE Inform multimedia incident information management solution. This year we will be showing for the first time an enhanced version of NICE Inform that reinforces NICE’s support for Next Generation 9-1-1 and its commitment to helping PSAPs rise to the challenge of capturing new forms of emergency communications and data. The new release of NICE Inform builds on our already advanced capabilities by giving PSAPs the ability to integrate text, video and voice recordings from third party capture platforms into holistic incident timelines.
For me personally, as the inventor of NICE Inform, it has been thrilling to see the evolution of this technology over the years. In the early days, NICE Inform supported synchronized audio only. Then we went on to integrate with the NiceVision Video Surveillance solution, ESRI GIS, screen recording, and other platforms. With our newest enhancements, PSAPs are now able to import voice recordings and video from virtually any external third party system for complete incident timelines. For example, in a robbery investigation, you could build a chronological audio-visual incident timeline using multiple eyewitness 9-1-1 calls, various on-scene video surveillance clips, cell phone video, radio recordings, CAD screens, and in-car video of police officers pursuing a suspect. You get the picture.
If you want to learn more check out this recent article in NEWSFACTOR (NICE Systems Helps Emergency Call Centers Get Smart) or come by our booth at APCO (#1013) for a demonstration. We’ll also be demonstrating NICE Situator, a real-time situation management solution which helps emergency communications centers and EOCs enhance their situational awareness and coordinate more effective emergency responses in all types of situations.
I also strongly suggest you mark your calendar to attend two other important events at APCO. NICE will be participating in a panel discussion on August 22 at 9:15 a.m. on “Hosted Solutions for Public Safety.” And, on August 20 at 11:30 a.m., we’ll be raising our glasses to this year’s PSAPs’ Finest award recipients.
Hope to see you there!
