The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is one of the largest transit systems in the U.S., providing more than a million passenger trips on an average weekday. The MBTA is also deeply rooted in Boston’s history as the birthplace of American mass transportation. In fact, the MBTA’s “Green line” has the distinction of being the nation’s first subway. Now this founding father of modern American mass transportation is getting a high-tech facelift, thanks to NICE. Recently, NICE was selected by systems integrator Intelligent Systems Co., Inc. to supply a digital video surveillance and monitoring solution to the MBTA. The real-time distributed digital video solution will be deployed system-wide throughout the MTBA’s more than seventy stations to detect suspicious events and alert MBTA security personnel in real-time.
