Read these latest news stories about NICE in leading publications and media outlets.
- The Financial Times, a well-known international business publication, published an article on NICE entitled "The eyes and ears behind a safer future." - In a piece published by United Press International ("Security & Terrorism, Civilian camera system can analyze threats"), NICE Systems' Ian Ehrenberg tells us what's behind NICE's sophisticated content analysis solutions for video surveillance. "The system uses propriety mathematical formulas to analyze the picture content on a pixel-by-pixel basis," he said. "It memorizes the scene and it also learns repetitive movement, like trees waving and flags flapping and waves crashing, so that those activities do not set off an alarm." Security camera video in the private sector is currently passive - it records people and events for review later. NICE Systems, however, has linked the camera with a software system that allows "content analysis," allowing the camera to compare pixels screen to screen, remaining alert for certain changes like unattended luggage or packages that remain in the same place for a determined length of time.
- This article ("Computer programs that react to speech gain real-world use") published in The Boston Globe, showcases NICE's advancements in the speech recognition area. Today, NICE emotion and word detection are more widely used in commercial contact centers, but there are future applications for surveillance and homeland security as well. Click here to read more.
