| NICE NEWS SPECIAL EDITION IS GOING INTERNATIONAL |
 |
Dear NICE customer,
NICE customers span every corner of the globe. Beginning this month, NICE News Special Edition (SE) is going international too! We're merging our North American and International editions of NICE News SE into a single on-line newsletter for all of our NICE public safety customers around the world. You'll still see the same compelling stories - but don't be surprised to see some with an international twist too. On that note, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all of our NICE customers that are receiving this newsletter for the first time, by way of 3-D Bilisim Ltd., our NICE partner in Turkey.
This month, I'm also excited to announce the NICE Telecommunicator of the Year contest. It's our way of paying tribute to the hundreds of thousands of telecommunicators who work behind the scenes to make a difference in the lives of citizens everyday. Please read the article in this newsletter for details or visit www.nice.com/news/newsletter/6_01s/nominations.php to nominate a telecommunicator for this prestigious award.
I would also like to ask you to please take a moment to complete our monthly Quick Customer Survey on "Radio Systems and Recording" by visiting www.nice.com/news/newsletter/6_01s/survey.php. Your input is invaluable and will help ensure we're staying on top of providing the best solutions for your public safety needs.

| NICE ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR TELECOMMUNICATOR OF THE YEAR |
 |

The idea gained momentum, and with the backing of APCO (the Association of Public-Safety Communication Officials), in 1991 the U.S. Congress designated the second full week of April as "National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week."

| OMAHA/DOUGLAS COUNTY: LESSONS LEARNED ALONG THE WAY |
 |
A few years ago, the City of Omaha/Douglas County Communications Center was wrestling with a perplexing problem. The City had outgrown the coverage of its conventional radio system that had been installed three decades earlier. "The City had annexed way beyond what the system was designed for, so we had to make a change," said Mark Conrey, director of the Omaha/Douglas County 9-1-1 center. And change it did - in 2003, the Center traded out its old analog UHF/VHF low band radio system for a new 7 site/20 channel Simulcast Motorola P25 ASTRO Digital SmartZone system.
Dispatching close to three-quarters of a million calls a year for 19 different agencies, the Omaha center was already recording all of its 9-1-1 and radio communications. But with the switch to a state-of-the art trunked radio solution, Conrey soon realized that he needed a new recording system too.
