| PHILADELPHIA POLICE DEPARTMENT (PD) JOINS LINE UP OF TOP U.S. CITIES SELECTING NICE |
 |
With more than 7,000 sworn officers and 1,100 civilian employees, the Philadelphia PD is the fourth largest police department in the United States. It's also the most recent metropolitan PD to join a growing line up of law enforcement agencies from top U.S. cities who've named NICE as their solution of choice for capturing and analyzing first responder interactions.
Sgt. Greg Masi, a 28-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, and technical supervisor for the department's Communications Division, explained why. "The NICE solution offers us state-of-the-art trunked radio capture and advanced Scenario Replay software for reconstructing events and deriving insight from both 9-1-1 and radio communications," he said. "Without a doubt, NICE definitely has a leading edge in this area."
The implementation of NICE will be part of a complete upgrade of the Philadelphia PD 9-1-1 center, which is the main PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) for the City of Philadelphia and takes over 3.3 million police, fire and EMS calls each year. The department employed Dictaphone recording technology for three decades, but when the updated center goes live, the legacy Dictaphone system will be replaced by a new NICE solution that will make reconstructing scenarios and sharing information much easier. This will be a welcome change since the department receives close to 600 subpoenas for 9-1-1 recordings every month, necessitating a team of five people working around the clock. Masi expects his new NICE system will greatly enhance his division's productivity in this area.
