| NUG SCORES TWO TRIUMPHS: SUMMIT SUCCESS AND 1,000 MEMBERS |
 |
The NICE User Group (NUG) achieved two great milestones of success this summer. The group, a network of NICE customers from across the US and around the globe, reached its 1,000 member mark just last month. And while that alone would be an enviable accomplishment, the group pulled off another feat with a highly successful user summit. The 4th annual NICE customer conference took place August 21-24 in the heart of historic San Francisco, California. "We've received tremendous feedback from all of our customers who attended the event," said Robin Schaffer, manager of marketing communications for NICE Systems, "and they tell us it was a first class event, over the top."
One of the advantages of membership in NICE NUG is the ability to network with peers and share best practices, so it's not surprising that one of the central themes for this year's summit was "The Power of 1000." Membership in NICE NUG hit the 1,000 mark in August, doubling last year's membership.
Summit participants found no shortage of networking opportunities at NICE NUG '05. On Sunday, attendees enjoyed a special welcome reception and networking tours to regional attractions like the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and Sausalito. When the lights went down on Monday night, summit attendees got a real taste of San Francisco's unique culture and charm when NICE cordoned off the famous Union Square and transformed it into a mini San Francisco, complete with replicas of the famed Golden Gate Bridge, Ghirardelli Square, China Town, and North Beach. NICE customers were entertained by Chinese acrobats and other artists, while sampling a smorgasbord of music, food and fun activities.
But NICE NUG '05 wasn't all fun and games. It was about making new connections and gaining new insights too. "Overall it was a great experience," said Pharmacare's Judy Roesch. "There were so many opportunities to learn and take valuable lessons home."
Summit attendees were able to select from three conference tracks: Enterprise Analytics, Performance Management, and Technology. "We squeezed eighteen breakout sessions into two days," said Schaffer, "so there was a substantial amount of content to help customers learn how to best leverage their NICE solutions to gain Insight from InteractionsTM, and maximize performance and value for their entire enterprise."
This year's summit also featured the first-ever Professional Development Day where customers could sign up for classes and get in depth training on different aspects of their NICE systems. "This was a new addition to our NUG summit this year and it was very well received," said Schaffer.
NICE customers, too, played a role in the success of the summit, sharing their insights on best practices and how to achieve success with NICE. The summit featured presentations by Tom Hammond (The Hartford), Brad Totten (Countrywide Financial), Amy Miller (WPS), Judy Roesch and Tara Augustine (Pharmacare), John Caves (Charles Schwab), Judy Kohn (Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan), Sandy Bartlett (Saxon Mortgage), and Kerry Reeves (The NCO Group).
Another highpoint of the summit was the showcase, featuring exhibits by NICE partners like EMC, SAS, IEX, IPC, Avaya, Wittel and DigiVoice. NICE also used the venue as an opportunity to showcase its own next generation of solutions for content analytics, video surveillance and fraud detection.
