An annual recognition program, NICE Systems' PSAPs' Finest Awards was first introduced in 2006. Individuals are nominated by their public safety peers and then evaluated based on their exemplary achievements, depth of knowledge, innovative thinking, involvement and years of service to public safety, as well as other key criteria. Winners are selected by a panel of judges from the Public Safety industry. The 2010 judging panel included: Christopher N. Tucker (Director, Huntsville-Madison County 9-1-1 Center, Huntsville, Alabama); Willima Banner-Tunis, ENP (9-1-1 System Operations Manager for the City of Dallas); Steve Souder (Director, Fairfax County, Virginia, Department of 9-1-1 / Public Safety Communications, and a former PSAPs’ Finest Director of the Year); and Charles C. Freeman, ENP (9-1-1 Systems Manager, Pinellas County Public Safety Services).

“With so many promising nominees, judging this year’s PSAPs’ Finest program was especially challenging,” said Charles C. Freeman, ENP, 9-1-1 Systems Manager for Pinellas County Public Safety Services. “There were many outstanding candidates. Among the winners selected by the judging panel were individuals with numerous accomplishments and many years of experience, who through their leadership, technical skills, problem solving abilities, and personal and professional sacrifices have made amazing contributions.”
