The International Standardization Organization (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies. The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees.
Amongst other things, the ISO supports the methodology known as "Plan-Do-Check-Act" (PDCA). This involves four stages:
- Plan - establish the objectives and processes necessary to deliver results in accordance with customer requirements and the organization's policies.
- Do - implement the processes.
- Check - monitor and measure processes and product against policies, objectives and requirements for the product and report the results.
- Act - take actions to continually improve process performance.
NICE has adopted ISO methodologies, and submits itself to regular ISO audits. These examine processes within the company and confirm that they comply with ISO standards and requirements.
Typically these audits cover processes such as:
- Quality management, including analysis and corrective action methodologies for different processes, and quality Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that reflect product quality throughout the product life-cycle.
- Version/product release process methodologies.
- New service/product version plans.
- Requirements management, work flows and implementation.
- Master plan training guidelines.
NICE has been repeatedly commended by auditors for its adherence to ISO standards and requirements.
